To provide an exhaust gas treating catalyst constituted so as to suppress the slip of ammonia produced as a byproduct in a more excessive fuel state than a theoretical air/fuel ratio to accelerate the reduction of nitrogen oxide, its manufacturing method and an exhaust gas treating method.
The catalyst for treating an exhaust gas, which contains carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide, is constituted by supporting a noble metal on a carrier component comprising an inorganic compound and contains a solid acid component containing 0.1 mmol/g or above of a solid acid as a component which suppresses the slip of ammonia produced as a byproduct in a more excessive fuel state than a theoretical air/fuel ratio to accelerate the reduction of nitrogen oxide.
