To provide an exhaust gas treatment apparatus and an exhaust gas treatment method for removing a boron oxide and a sulfuric oxide almost completely from an exhaust gas exhausted from a glass melting furnace, and for controlling the ratio of the boron oxide and gypsum, recovered in association with the exhaust gas treatment, to be within a desired range.
The exhaust gas treatment apparatus includes: a first treatment column 1 into which the exhaust gas that contains impurities is introduced; a water spray means 3; a first pH sensor 4 for measuring hydrogen ion concentration of a first treatment liquid; a second treatment column 5 into which a first treated gas is introduced; an alkaline solution spray means 6; a second pH sensor 7 for measuring hydrogen ion concentration of a second treatment liquid; a liquid supplying means 8 for transporting at least a portion of the second treatment liquid to the first treatment column to mix with the first treatment liquid; a control means 9 for controlling the operation of the alkaline solution spray means 6 and the liquid supplying means 8 based on pH; and a recovery means 10 for recovering a portion of the impurities as a sulfate.
