PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment method and a treatment apparatus where the content of volatile mercury contained in an exhaust gas from a cement production facility is effectively reduced and the running cost of a heating device volatilizing mercury contained in collection dust by heating.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas treatment method includes a mercury recovery step where combustible matter is added to collection dust collected by a dust collection device and a bag filter device in a cement production facility, the collection dust and the combustible matter are heated and mercury in the collection dust is volatilized. An exhaust gas treatment apparatus includes the dust collection device and the bag filter device, a combustible matter supply device adding and blending the combustible matter to the collection dust collected by the dust collection device and/or the bag filter device, a heating device heating the collection dust and the combustible matter and volatilizing a mercury component contained in the dust and a mercury recovery device recovering mercury by treating an exhaust gas containing mercury volatilized from the heating device.
