Abstract:
To suppress the deterioration of fuel economy while purifying a nitrogen oxide (NOx) generated by a three-way catalyst, in a technology for purifying the exhaust emission of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine comprises: a particulate substance removal filter arranged in a main flow passage in which exhaust emission from the internal combustion engine circulates, and removing particulate substances in the exhaust emission; a three-way catalyst arranged at a downstream side rather than the particulate substance removal filter in the main flow passage; a NOx catalyst arranged in the main flow passage, and purifying a nitrogen oxide in the exhaust emission; and a control part. When the control part receives a signal for switching an in-cylinder air-fuel ratio to a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio from a lean air-fuel ratio from a combustion state control part for controlling the in-cylinder air-fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine to a lean state, a stoichiometric state and a rich state, the control part sets the in-cylinder air-fuel ratio which is controlled by the combustion state control part to a first air-fuel ratio which is shifted to a lean side rather than a stoichiometric side according to a state of the particulate substance removal filter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
