Abstract:

PURPOSE: To secure high exhaust emission control performance while reducing electric power consumption.

CONSTITUTION: Whether or not exhaust air is converted by a catalyst 4 is judged from data detected by an oxygen sensor 13 on the inlet side of the catalyst 4 having an electric heater, a temperature sensor 14, an oxygen sensor 15 on the outlet side and a temperature sensor 16, and heating of the catalyst by the electric heater and supply of secondary air by a motor-driven air pump 17 are controlled under a condition containing a judging result.
