To provide an existing pipe renewing method which is not a great hindrance to traffic on the ground and which enables the efficient execution of work.
In this existing pipe renewing method, holes are excavated in positions corresponding to both front and rear ends of the existing pipe to be renewed, respectively; the existing pipe exposed in the hole is cut; a lead wire is inserted into the cut existing pipe; after that, the lead wire protruded from the rear end of the existing pipe is connected to a front end of a renewal pipe; and subsequently, the existing pipe and the lead wire are wound in order from front ends thereof in the front hole, respectively, so that the existing pipe can be pulled out forward and so that the renewal pipe can be pulled in following the existing pipe.
