Title:
EXPANDABLE OSTEOSYNTHESIS CAGE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3909323
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expandable osteosynthesis cage facilitating the movement of a spacer inserted inside an intervertebral assembly cage and expanding a branch part, improving a structural stability of the expanded branch part and enlarging the expansion quantity of the branch part.
SOLUTION: An expandable intervertebral cage is formed by including a cage body which comprises a seat part having an orifice in an opening part and the branch part integrally extending in one side of the seat part and composed of a plurality of branches and has a hollow part formed in the branch part; and a spacer movably inserted in the hollow part. Lock projection parts are provided in the inner surfaces of free ends of the branches provided in the cage body and have such a shape that their end parts are radially gathered as a whole; the spacer to be inserted in the hollow part has such a shape that one end forms a tip part, and a trunk body is formed into a column or a prism; and, when the spacer is inserted in the radially gathered lock projection parts, the branch part of the cage body is pushed radially outward so that the whole cage body is expanded to fix an interval between the vertebras.
