This scroll expander 1 is provided with an oil pathway for distributing the oil after lubricating a bearing section of an expanding mechanism 50 to a sub-compressing mechanism 60. In the refrigeration cycle device 100 using the scroll expander 1, a discharge port of the sub-compressing mechanism 60 is connected to a compressing process of a main compressor 5. Further the scroll expander includes a main oil return pipe 22a for guiding the oil separated by an oil separator 26 to a suction side of the main compressor 5, and a sub-oil return pipe 22b for guiding the oil separated by the oil separator 26 to the bearing section of the expanding mechanism 50.
