To uniformly absorb and disperse contraction of joint gap distance with an elastic mortar in response to change in a joint gap distance, that is, expansion/contraction of the joint gap between a bridge abutment and a girder (floor slab) and/or the joint gap between girders (floor slabs), and to prevent the elastic mortar from floating up in a curved shape at low temperature, etc.
An expansion device used for a bridge is configured in such a manner that: a hollow portion is formed which is surrounded by left and right side walls of mutually facing respective floor slabs, which are positioned on right and left sides in the state of sandwiching a joint gap secured in the joint section of a bridge and by front and rear side walls; the hollow portion is densely filled with an elastic mortar, and the top face of the elastic mortar is airtightly covered with a pavement; and anchor bolts for preventing the elastic mortar from floating up are embedded therein in positions near both ends of a slide sheet laid on the bottom surface of the elastic mortar along the width direction.
