To provide an expansion valve reducing adverse effects on operation characteristics of the pressure of a high pressure refrigerant, by improving a seal member sealing a gap between a guide hole formed on a valve body and an operation rod.
A seal structure 20 sealing the gap between the guide hole 10 formed on the valve body 30 and the operation rod 36f includes the annular seal member 21 constituted by a sheet material arranged so as to surround the operation rod 36f and having flexibility, and the seal member 21 is fixed to the valve body 30 by fastening a flange part 22 thereof by an O ring 24 and a fixing ring 25. When the pressure difference between a liquid phase refrigerant flowing through a high pressure passage 32 and a gas phase refrigerant flowing through a low pressure passage 34 acts on the seal member 21, most of it acts on the valve body 30, and a large force does not act on the operation rod 36f, and therefore, the lift characteristics, a valve opening point and a valve closing point are not largely changed.
