Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve capable of reducing flow sound generated by the flow of a refrigerant through a valve unit.
SOLUTION: In the expansion valve for motorcar which is equipped with a valve port or an orifice 1 and a valve body or a ball 2, a ratio of a diameter (d) of the orifice 1 to the diameter D of the ball 2 or the ratio d/D is specified so as to be within the range of 0.70-0.96. According to this method, a difference between the diameter (d) of the orifice 1 and the diameter D of the ball 2 becomes small whereby an area, hindering the flow of the refrigerant, is reduced and the refrigerant can be made to flow smoothly, thereby permitting the reduction of the flow sound while maintaining characteristics as the expansion valve.
