To assure the function of suppressing the backflow of operating medium from a piston into an operating space to easily secure reliability and service life when constructing a gas bearing by introducing the operating medium compressed in the operating space of an external combustion engine into the piston and injecting it into a clearance portion between the piston and a cylinder through a plurality of holes provided in a side peripheral portion of the piston.
A piston device to be applied for the external combustion engine 10 consists of a piston body 211, an accumulating chamber 212 formed in the piston body, an introduction part 214 for introducing the compressed operating medium into the accumulating chamber, and a hole 216 provided in the side peripheral portion 211b of the piston body passing from the accumulating chamber through the clearance portion between the piston body and the cylinder 22 of the external combustion engine. The introduction part can distribute the operating medium either in the direction of distribution to the accumulating chamber or in the opposite direction thereto. The introduction part has flow path resistance in the opposite direction greater than that in the direction of introduction.
