To provide an external facing structure which can prevent the external facing members from being corroded by discharging rainwater without permitting the rainwater to stagnate therein over a long period, in regard to an external facing structure which uses external facing members such as tiles.
The external facing structure includes the external facing members 2 arranged in an overlapped state and crosspieces 2 which support the external facing members 2 and which are fixed to a bed 3 parallel to the edge of an eaves. The external facing member 2 includes an engagement groove 21 opened on the downstream side in the downstream side rear surface. The crosspiece 1 includes a bottom part 11 fixed to the bed 3, a vertical part 12 raised from the upstream side of the bottom part 11, a horizontal piece part 13 extending from the top end of the vertical part 12 toward the upstream side, and a support part 14 rising from the downstream side of the bottom part 11. Conducting holes 121, 141 are formed in the vertical part 12 and the support part 14, respectively. With the crosspiece 1 fixed to the bed 3 and the downstream side rear surface of the external facing member 2 overlapped with the upstream side surface of the external facing member adjacent to the downstream side, the engagement groove 21 of the external facing member 2 is engaged with the horizontal piece part 13 of the crosspiece 1, and the upstream side rear surface of the external facing member 2 is supported on the support part 14 of the crosspiece 1 adjacent to the upstream side.
