Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide inexpensive external parts of superior corrosion resistance and stress corrosion resistance for timepieces by hot forging stainless steel of a ferrite phase contg. specific ratios of Cr, C at specific temp. then carrying out specific thickness of plating.
CONSTITUTION: Stainless steel contg. 16.00W18.00% Cr and ≤0.03% C by wt%, consisting of the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities and having a ferrite phase substantially is hot-forged in a 800W1,000°C temp. range to manufacture external parts for timepieces, thence these parts are carried out with ≥1μ plating.
