PURPOSE: An external preparation for the skin having extremely improved beautifying effect on the skin and high safety, containing a compound such as hydroquinone monoethyl ether, etc. and a specific hydroquinone glycoside.
CONSTITUTION: An external preparation for the skin containing preferably 0.03W30wt% compound (e.g., 4-isopropylcatechol monoheptadeca ester, etc.) shown by the formula I [when R1 is H, R2 is methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, alkoxy, etc., and R1 is OR3 (R3 is fatty acid residue), R2 is methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, t-butyl, propenyl, etc.] and preferably 6W20wt% hydroquinone glycoside (most preferably hydroquinone β-D-glycoside) shown by the formula II (R is pentose residue, hexose residue, amino sugar residue, uronic acid residue or methylated substances). This external preparation for the skin is used as toilet lotion, milky lotion, cream, ointment, dispersion, etc.
