To provide an extinguisher capable of surely extinguishing a fire of a storage battery with a simple structure.

The extinguisher includes: a battery pack (34) which is mounted on a vehicle and arranged with a plurality of storage batteries (36); a cooling device including a freezing circuit for cooling the storage battery; a gas-liquid separation tank (30) for separating a lubricant oil mixed to CO2 circulating in the freezing circuit during the circulating process from a gaseous CO2; a discharging pipe (32) having one end connected to the upper end of the gas-liquid separation tank while the other end is opened in the battery pack; and an abnormality detecting means (38) for detecting an abnormality of the storage battery. When the abnormality of the storage battery is detected by the abnormality detecting means, only CO2 separated with the lubricant oil by the gas-liquid separation tank (30) is discharged to the battery pack through the discharging pipe (32).
