To obtain the subject extract not having a problem on color, smell and safety, giving effects for improving skin roughness, improving keratin, beautifying skins, restroring hair, etc., and useful as a medicine for treating heart diseases, reciprocatory organ diseases, central nervous system diseases, etc., by subjecting the body of a labiate: Coleus forskolhii Brig., to a supercritical extraction method.
This forskolin-containing extract is obtained by subjecting the whole body or root portions of a labiate: Coleus forskolhii Brig., to a supercritical extraction method using a supercritical fluid. The extract is preferably obtained by subjecting the labiate: Coleus forskolhii Brig. to a supercritical extraction method using carbon dioxide as a supercritical fluid at a pressure of 73-200 kg/cm2, removing the first extract and again subjecting the residue to the supercritical extraction method using carbon dioxide at a pressure 200-500 kg/cm2. A solvent for assisting the extraction is an organic solvent (preferably ethanol). In the supercritical extraction method, the plant is heated at the critical temperature of the supercritical fluid or higher, preferably at 40-100°C. The extract is administered at a daily dose of 0.1-10 mg (as forskolin) per adult.
