PURPOSE: To efficiently produce and work a die member excellent in shape precision by arranging a shaping member having a shaping hole to shape the shape of an extrusion material at a position near the outlet side of a forming hole of a extruding die.

CONSTITUTION: Though the tip part of a die member E formed through the forming hole 6a of the extruding die 6 comes into contact with the air, is cooled ununiformly and deformed immediately after it passes this forming hole 6a, it is led into the shaping hole 11 of the shaping member 10 later on. By passing through the shaping hole 11, it is shaped into the original adequate sectional shape and moved forward though the side of a backer 7, the inside of a bolster 9. In this way, the extruded die member E is extruded into the die member E which is free from warp etc., on the cross section over the whole length and which is according to design.
