To provide an eyelet attaching method by positioning a holding point of a base cloth between an upper die and a lower die near a bite in part to the base cloth of an eyelet, thereby preventing the base cloth from being elongated to outer periphery at caulking and smoothly conduct pressing, punching, caulking of the base cloth.

The base cloth 3 is arranged between an upper die 5 and a lower die 8, the eyelet 1 is arranged on the base cloth 3, in the state that, by descending the upper die 5 against the lower die 8, the base cloth 3 is held between a pressing body 4, which is arranged to an axial center part of an upper die main body 9 and spring energized downward, and a protruding part 6 of the lower die 8 facing the pressing body 4, the base cloth 3 is punched by pressure force of the upper die main body 9 resulting from descending of the upper die 5 with its cylindrical part lower end 1a while descending the eyelet 1, successively, a cylindrical part 1a lower end of the eyelet 1 is guided and bent into a curl formed groove 6a of the lower die 6, the eyelet 1 is caulked to the base cloth 3. In this method, the base cloth 3, between the pressing body 4 and the protruding 6, is punched, in the state at least held by the outer peripheral part 4a of the pressing body, by the cylindrical part 1a lower end of the eyelet 1.
