PURPOSE: To improve characteristic, by providing the first group, which a lens with both faces concave and a lens with both faces convex are stuck to each other, and the second group, which a lens both faces convex and a negative meniscus lens are stuck to each other, in order from the image side and by satisfying prescribed conditions.

CONSTITUTION: An eyepiece is constituted by the first group G1 consisting of lens L1 with both faces concave and lens L2 with both faces convex which are stuck to each other and the second group G consisting of lens L3 with both faces convex and negative meniscus lens L4 which are stuck to each other in order from the image side. When the synthetic focal length of the whole of the lens system, curvature radiuses of respective faces of lenses, thickness and intervals of lenses, refractive indexes, and Abbe numbers are denoted as (f), R1WR6, d1Wd5, n1Wn4, and v1Wv4 in order from the image side respectively, they are selected to satisfy conditions 1W5. By this constitution, an eyepiece can be obtained where the apparent view field is 45° or more and the pupil distance is 80% or more of the focal length and various aberrations are corrected well.
