To uniformly illuminate the whole face of an object by installing diffusion members so as to make transmissivity different according to the irradiation position of light emitted from a light source to the object.
A face illuminating device used for photographing the face of the object by a housing in which the whole face of the object is stored and a predetermined space is formed includes: a plurality of light sources which are provided symmetrically with respect to the irradiated area of the object in the space of the housing; the diffusion members 25-1 and 25-2 which are installed to make the transmissivity different according to the irradiation position of the light emitted from the light source to the object; and an imaging means 22 which can photograph the whole face of the object irradiated with the light which has passed through the diffusion members. Thus, the whole face of the object is uniformly illuminated.
