To provide a face image collation device and a face image registration method, in which a face image suitable for collation is registered using a color face image.
The face image collation device 1 comprises a face image input part 103 photographing an object person of collation in a predetermined environment and inputting a face image thereof; a color face image acquisition part 102 acquiring a color face image of the object person; an estimation part 104a calculating an estimated face image capable of being collated with the face image photographed in the predetermined environment based on the color face image; a collation part 104b collating an input face image acquired by the face image input part 103 with the estimated face image and determining whether both the face images are of the same person or not; a registration face image storage part 105 storing a registration face image; and a face image registration part 104c performing, when the same person is determined in the collation part 104b, registration of the estimated face image as the registration face image in the registration image storage part 105, and not performing the registration when the same person is not determined in the collation part 104b.
