To provide a facial image collating system capable of preventing deterioration of authenticity due to improper alignment of a photographed image and a registered facial image at facial collation.
The facial image collating system can perform individual identification, by collating the photographed face image photographed at authentication and the individual registered facial image previously registered. The system is provided with an alignment determinating means 405 for determining whether a face area of the photographed face image is properly aligned and photographed, and the alignment determining means 405 calculates the proportion of a facial color area occupied by the photographed facial image in a photographing designated area as a first occupancy rate, compares the first occupancy rate with a second occupancy rate, preliminarily calculated at registration as a proportion of the facial color area occupied by the registered face image in the photographing designated area, and determines the propriety of the alignment, based on the comparison result.
