To provide a facility and a method for treatment in which melting of scrap, treatment of waste and treatment of iron making dust can be carried out efficiently.
A melting facility having a melting chamber and a preliminary chamber coupled directly with the upper section thereof, and a heating furnace are employed. When melting a cold iron source, the cold iron source is fed continuously or intermittently to the preliminary chamber of the melting facility and melted in the melting chamber before the molten is heated in the heating furnace. When treating waste and iron-making dust, waste is thrown from the preliminary chamber of the melting facility onto the molten in the melting chamber to produce gas or slag. At the same time, iron making dust is thrown onto the molten in the heating furnace and reduced.
