When a telephone calling signal or a FAX calling signal reaches a line, an NCU 26a instructs power supply input to a device controlling part 20a. After power input, a transmitter 43 of a device main body 2b sends a signal that corresponds to the telephone calling signal or the FAX calling signal to a receiver 37 of a handset 3b, and a controlling part 40 in the handset 3b generates a telephone ring tone or a FAX ring tone. In the case of the latter, if it is left as it is, the body 2b receives FAX. In the case of the former, when an operator presses a speech communication button 33a of an operation panel 36, a transmitter 38 communicates to a receiver of the body 2b, a direct current loop is formed in a line and it becomes a communicable state.
