In the facsimile machine, an image forming apparatus 10, a first parallel telephone terminal 51 and a second parallel telephone terminal 52 sharing one line are connected to a telephone line network 100 in parallel. When there is a facsimile transmission request, a FAX communication part 15 of the image forming apparatus 10 determines whether the first parallel telephone terminal 51 or the second parallel telephone terminal 52 is in an off-hook state on the basis of a detection result of a line voltage value detected after off-hook, stops dialing if they are in an off-hook state, and starts dialing if they are not in the off-hook state. Further, the FAX communication part 15 determines whether the first parallel telephone terminal 51 and the second parallel telephone terminal 52 are in the off-hook state after starting dialing, and stops dialing if they are in the off-hook state.
