PURPOSE: To reduce useless recording (space) of a receiver for an A4 routine size recording paper sheet by combining plural pages within the A4 routine size when short originals whose size is smaller than the A4 routine size are received by the facsimile receiver and recording the combined originals as one page.

CONSTITUTION: A picture information storage circuit 1 stores a reception picture information signal (a), a picture information line count circuit 2 counts a line number (in the unit of pages) of the reception picture information signal (a) and stores a line number information signal (b) in a line number storage circuit 3 (all pages are stored). Then the picture information storage circuit 1 sends a storage reception picture information signal (f) and a line number comparator circuit compares a storage line number information signal (c) from the line number storage circuit 3 with a routine paper line number information signal (d) and a line number counter circuit 4 sends a picture information combination command signal (e) when the result indicates it that the information is able to be stored on a routine paper sheet. Upon the receipt of the picture information combination command signal (e), a picture information combination circuit 5 combines plural pages of the storage reception picture information signals (f) into one page within the range and sends the result as a reception combination information signal (g).
