Title:

Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09238158
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To allow a server distributing a facsimile document received from a public line to a desired information processing unit on a LAN to send a cross reference list between a sub address and a network address to a transmission source in polling as required.

A facsimile(FAX) server 1 distributes a FAX document received via a public line 2 such an ISDN to a designated destination terminal equipment (PC) 4 among a plurality of PCs 4 connected to a LAN 3 as image information. The FAX server 1 has a cross reference list between a network address composed of domain names of each PC4 and a sub address sent from a sender and specifies the distribution destination by referencing the list. When the FAX server 1 cannot recognize the sub address at reception, the FAX server 1 recognizes a telephone number of the transmitter FAX and sends automatically a cross reference list between each client PC4 in the LAN 3 and the sub address to the sender FAX in polling after the end of FAX reception.
