PURPOSE: To facilitate an easy operation of the titled exchange system, by providing a function to accept a switch request signal given from a facsimile terminal to a telephone mode and a function to switch the communication between a telephone for facsimile terminal and a telephone for communication to the communication contol part of a store and forward exchange.

CONSTITUTION: An FAX1 is connected to a store and forward exchange 3' via a dotted line 2a of a circuit exchange 2 and a facsimile communication port 35'a. Picture information given from the FAX1 is received by a communication controller 31' within the communication control part of the exchange 3' via a network controller 35', a modulating/demodulating device 34 and a line adaptor 32. When the FAX1 transmits a telephone mode switch request, this request signal is detected by a communication controller 31'. Then information necessary for transmission to the exchange 2 from the port 35'a and information necessary for transmission of a call number to a telephone 36 for communication together with the call number are given to the controller 35' via a line adaptor 33. Then information necessary for connection between the port 35'a and a telephone communication port 35'b is sent.
