Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve a load onto a facsimile terminal by using a hash function of a specific bit length twice for computation of a hash transform, so as to simplify the multiplication procedure required for processing the hash function of a 64-bit length.
SOLUTION: This facsimile terminal is provided with a CPU(central processing unit) 1001, a ROM(read only memory) 1002, a timer 1004, an image storage memory 1011, a LAN controller 1021, a modem 1031, and a coder 1 decoder (DOR) 1041 or the like. Then a transmitter side facsimile terminal faxes a document to a receiver side user facsimile terminal and designates a mail address of the recipient user at that time. In this case, the facsimile terminal gives the mail address to a hash function as its argument. This hash function is the same as that used by the receiver side facsimile terminal. In this case, a hash function whose output size is a 32-bit length is selected. That is, a hash function whose output size is a 64-bit length is not used to compute the hash function, but the hash function whose output size is a 32-bit length is employed twice for the computation.
