To provide a facsimile transmission system in which a destination can be burdened only with a charge pertaining to a specific document.
A collect call transmission code for confirming acceptance is indicated previously on a collect call document. When the collect call transmission code is extracted from an image read out from the document, a facsimile transmits it to a management server and inquires the acceptance of a collect call. The management server makes a decision whether a received collect call transmission code is a true granted code or not and sends the decision results back to the relevant facsimile. If the collect call transmission code is granted, the facsimile performs current facsimile transmission by collect call and transmits charge information indicative of utilization charge, and the like, to the management server. The management server requests the return of utilization charge to a destination based on that charge information.
