Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure detecting device of an oxygen sensor capable of determining failure of the oxygen sensor, even when output voltage of the oxygen sensor falls within a normal voltage range.SOLUTION: This oxygen sensor 126 has a first output voltage region output in a state of becoming rich with respect to the target air-fuel ratio when normally operating in increase-decrease control of a fuel supply quantity, and a second output voltage region output in a state of becoming lean to the target air-fuel ratio. A failure determining section 202 determines that the oxygen sensor 126 is in a failure state, even when output voltage Vx exists in the second output voltage region or the first output voltage region, when the output voltage Vx of the oxygen sensor 126 output by increase or decrease control of the fuel supply quantity to a fuel injection valve 98 is in a state of not shifting to the first output voltage region from the second output voltage region, or when the output voltage Vx is in a state of not shifting to the second output voltage region from the first output voltage region, though the increase or decrease control continues for a predetermined time.
