Title:
FAILURE DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE FOR OCCUPANT PROTECTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3702577
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an ignition current from flowing into a squib in diagnosing a failure.
SOLUTION: One end of a squib 10 is connected to an ignition power supply V1 via a parallel circuit between an FET 2 and a resistance 6 and the other end of the squib 10 is grounded via the parallel circuit between an FET 12 and a resistance 16. The resistances 6, 16 have such resistance values becoming to a degree that the current flowing, when either one of the FET 2 or the FET 12 is turned on, does not ignite the squib 10. The FETs 2, 12 are constituted of parallel circuits between drive FETs 22, 122 and high resistance check FETs 21, 121 respectively and a bias voltage is applied to respective gates by turning-off of FETs 5, 15. In diagnosing a failure, when a wire L1 or a wire L2 is instantly or stationarily short-circuited to a power supply line or an earth respectively, the flowing current is restricted by the check FETs 21, 121 so that the ignition current is prevented from flowing therein and prevent the starting of the air bag device.
