To provide a fall preventing device including an installation member which moves inward of furniture by a backward inclination holding mechanism when the furniture is inclined backward from a horizontal state to make a front bottom surface of the furniture separate from a floor surface in an earthquake or the like, so that the installation member collides with a mounting member to hold a backward inclination state so as to securely prevent fall of the furniture, in which a housing space above a top plate surface can be effectively used, causing less deterioration of appearance.

The device comprises the installation member 1 which can be installed on the floor surface G, and the mounting member 2 which can be mounted on the furniture M. Between the installation member and the mounting member, the backward inclination holding mechanism 4 is provided to hold the backward inclination state as the installation member collides with the mounting member when the furniture is inclined backward from the horizontal state to make the front bottom surface of the furniture separate from the floor surface till the installation member moves inward of the furniture to make the furniture incline forward from the backward inclination state to the horizontal state.
