Abstract:
PURPOSE: To extend service life of a machine by forming a carrier with a plurality of sleeves retaining shanks of a fastener and connected by bridges which are easy to tear and expanding the sleeve with the shank head when fastener is stamped.
CONSTITUTION: Sleeves 32 connected by bridges 74, 76 which are easy to tear are arranged in a carrier 30 for retaining shanks 18 a fastener 12 in a single line. Each sleeve 32 is constituted by a lower annular portion 34 retaining the lower portion adjacent to the distal end 20 of the shank 18 of the fastener 12 and an upper portion 36 retaining the upper portion adjacent to a head 22 of the shank 18 and being expandable by the head 22 of the shank 18 when fastener is stamped. To be more specific, V-shaped notches 70, 72 are formed at the upper end 38 of the upper portion 36 such that the notches 70, 72 are expandable.
