PURPOSE: To provide fat-soluble vitamin preparations enhanced in the absorption of the fat-soluble vitamin into the body of an animal by adding a medium chain fatty acid triglyceride to a fat-soluble vitamin composition.
CONSTITUTION: A fat-soluble vitamin (e.g. vitamin A, E), a medium chain fatty acid triglyceride (e.g. caprylic acid), a surfactant (e.g. polyoxyethylene-hardened castor oil), a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. glycerol), and water are compounded as active ingredients and subsequently prepared into the subject preparations by a conventional method. The medium chain fatty acid triglyceride is compounded in an amount of 0.1-30 pts.wt. per pt.wt. of the fat-soluble vitamin, and the surfactant is employed in an amount of 1-10 times the total weight of the fat-soluble vitamin and the medium chain fatty acid triglyceride. The polyhydric alcohol is compounded in an amount of 0.1-2 pts.wt. per pt. wt. of the surfactant, and the water is added in a proper amount.
