To provide a faucet easily operated for water discharge/stop by operation on a hand-held operation unit with a small operation force.

In a faucet where the leading end of a water discharge tube rising from a counter is used as a shower head 16, a water discharge/stop operation push-button 22 as a hand operator is provided facing diagonally upward near the leading end of the shower head 16, and a main valve 42 and a pilot valve 78 for controlling it are provided as a water discharge/stop valve corresponding to the hand-held operation unit. The pilot valve 78 is fitted within the shower head 16. Within the faucet, a pilot water channel 46 as well as a back pressure chamber 44 at the back of the main valve is formed to open and close the pilot valve 78 with the water discharge/stop operator 22.
