Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a detection method which can detect the faults of a microcomputer in a small circuit scale and at low cost.
CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer 1 is provided with a light-weight monitoring circuit 2 which contains only an arithmetic circuit part that can carry out the same instructions as those of the microcomputer 1. Then both microcomputer 1 and circuit 2 carry out the same arithmetic processing based on the same data, and both arithmetic results are compared with each other for detection of a fault. In such a constitution, the faults of the microcomputer 1 can be detected at low cost.
