Title:
FAULT RESTORATION METHOD BY OPTICAL LAYER QUASI- CENTRALIZATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3662901
Kind Code:
B
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved restoration architecture for an optical technology layer.
SOLUTION: Among a network of optical cross-connects (OXCs) 10, the network is partitioned into sets 301, 302 and 303 of a plurality of subnetworks and a single 'restoration controller' 22 is defined for each separate subnetwork 30. For the subnetwork partitioning, partitioning is performed into either 'minimally overlapping' sets of the subnetworks 30 or 'highly overlapping' sets of the subnetworks. The former means that the OXCs 10 are 'clustered' in their network topology with only a few links required to join autonomous subnetworks. The latter means that the OXCs 10 are defined as being included in more than one subnetwork. The subnetwork restoration controller (SRC) 22 of each subnetwork 30 performs restoration around faults recognizes in its own subnetwork.
