PURPOSE: To automatically call the telephone set of a FAX receiver after the completion of FAX communication to report the arrival of FAX with a voice.

CONSTITUTION: An exchange having an ISDN switching connection function is provided with an audio output device 4 which outputs information indicating the arrival of FAX with a voice. A central processing unit 2 receives the telephone number of the arrival report receiver as the incoming subaddress together with the incoming number as information element of SETUP which is the call setting message from an originating FAX 5 and automatically calls a telephone set 7 of the arrival report receiver based on this incoming subaddress after the completion or FAX communication. When the telephone set 7 responds to this call, the voice which reports arrival of FAX is sent from the audio output device 4 to report the arrival of FAX.
