PURPOSE: To improve the operability of a FAX mail system by determining whether a FAX mail from each FAX equipment should be received or not based on the outgoing/incoming telephone number informed from a private branch exchange with the reception mask function of a FAX mail equipment.

CONSTITUTION: In this FAX mail system, plural FAX equipments 11 to (n) and a FAX mail equipment 2 are connected to an exchange 2, and FAX mail information received from FAX equipments 11 to (n) is stored in the FAX mail equipment 2 and is sent to the other FAX equipments. In this case, it is discriminated whether the FAX mail from each FAX equipment should be received or not based on the outgoing/incoming telephone number informed from the exchange 1 by a reception mask function 4, and thereby, the FAX mail equipment 2 determines to the propriety of the reception of the FAX mail from the FAX equipment. Thus, the operation to input an ID number from the FAX equipment or the like is eliminated to improve the operability.
