Abstract:
PURPOSE: To calculate an outline direction histogram feature amount in which the change of a histogram shape due to the fluctuation of the thickness of a line can be reduced, in a short time.
CONSTITUTION: A filtering means 1 operates a filtering to inputted binary two-dimensional pattern data, and inputs the result to a histogram calculating means 2. A direction dictionary 3 is constituted so that the value outputted from the filtering means 1 can be referred to by an index, and a weight to be added to the outline direction and histogram of the picture element is prepared. The weight is registered as a weight '0' when the direction is not present, normal weight 'w' when the direction and the thickness is present, and weight '2w' two times as large as the normal weight when the thickness of the line is not present. The histogram calculating means 2 blocks data outputted from the filtering means 1 into NxM, and calculates the histogram of directional components by referring to the direction dictionary 3 for each block.
