PURPOSE: To take remaining material back to the side of a rod material supplier by forming a fed bar out of an outer cylinder, which is to move back and forth in the direction of an axial line, and a push bar, which is supported at the hollow portion of the outer cylinder movably in the direction of the axial line and provided with a chucking member at the front end.
CONSTITUTION: A fed bar 10 is somewhat moved backward together with a push table 6 right prior to the beginning of cutting to set the front end of a push bar 13 apart from a rod material W, so that a chuck C is closed to grasp the rod material W, which is machined by a bite B and then cut off with the remaining material left in the chuck C. When a control valve 19 raises pressure in an air pressure room 17, the push bar 13 is moved backward from an outer cylinder 11 and the push table 6 is moved forward to press finger chuck 12 against the remaining material, which is then grasped. Next, when the chuck C opens to move the push table 6 backward, the fed bar 10 takes the remaining material back which is grasped by the finger chuck 12, pressure in the air pressure room 18 is raised and the push bar 13 is moved forward to push the remaining material out.
