PURPOSE: To obtain a good feed additive for ruminants, passing through the rumen of the ruminants, and dissolving out in the abomasum or thereafter, by adding calcium carbonate to a feed additive containing materials effective for the living body, and granulating the resultant mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A feed additive obtained by adding ≥60wt% calcium carbonate to a feed additive containing materials effective for the living body, and granulating the resultant mixture. The materials effective for the living body are nutriments or feeds or drugs containing the nutriments and absorbed effectively through the abomasum or thereafter into the individual body of an animal without consumption by microorganisms in the rumen. Examples of such materials include amino acids, derivatives thereof, proteins, vitamins, enzymes, carbohydrates, veterinary drugs, hormones, etc. If the amount of the calcium carbonate to be used is less than 60wt%, the effect is little since the materials effective for the living body dissolve out in the rumen.
