PURPOSE: To attain feed servo operation with low power consumption by using a drive signal to drive a feed control device to apply moving control to an optical pickup in the radial direction of a disc in a way that the DC component produced in a tracking servo circuit is decreased.
CONSTITUTION: The DC component of an output signal V22 of a low-pass filter 22 is increased in response to changes in a displacement X of a tracking actuator 21 and since a feed servo switch 27 is turned on only when a feed servo control signal FC is at a high level, the control signal is fed intermittently to a feed motor drive circuit 23 for a prescribed time at a prescribed period and the feed motor drive signal FC is fed to a feed motor 24. When a drive signal having a sufficient voltage level is given to the feed motor 24, the motor 24 is driven at points of time t1, t2 to apply moving control to the pickup 12. Since the feed servo circuit applies intermittently the drive signal to the feed motor 24, no power is consumed during pause period and the power efficiency is increased. Thus, the feed servo operation is attained with low power consumption.
