PURPOSE: To pick up an electronic part positively by a shifting head by bringing into contact and separating a suction with and from, a suction port in conformity with the pitch-feed of a tape and holding the electronic part through a notched hole when picking up.

CONSTITUTION: When a sprocket 4 is rotated and a tape 2 is pitch-fed, a cover tape 2a is peeled from the tape 2 by a peeling pawl 5, and a notched hole 7 is opened to a bottom tape 2b by a cutter section 6 so as to be able to vacuum-chuck a chip P in a pocket 2c. The electronic part P is forwarded to the position Q of pickup, and held by the nozzle 51 of a shifting head 50 and picked up. When a cam 11 is turned by driving a motor 13, on the other hand, an suction section 9 is lifted and lowered being synchronized with the pitch-feed of the tape 2, and holds the electronic part p at the position Q of pickup by driving a suction apparatus 10. Accordingly, the electronic part can be picked up reliably by the shifting head.
