Title:
FEEDER HEAD CASE FOR INGOT MAKING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62144855
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To smoothly pour molten metal upward in a mold and to improve surface quality of an ingot by arranging a feeder head case for ingot making with specified tapered angle at the lower part thereof, which is settled at the upper part of the mold.

CONSTITUTION: The feeder head case 5 is formed as cylindrical shape having a flange 5a to hang on a top end of the mold 2 at the upper part thereof and a taper part 5b with ≥70° angle to the horizontal plane at the lower part thereof. In this way, when the molten metal supplied into the mold 2 reaches to the taper part 5b of the feeder head case 5 as rising in the mold, the molten metal rises smoothly along the taper part 5b and prevents the feeder head case 5 from errosion, because of no disturbance of the molten metal flow. Therefore, the surface quality of ingot at he position of corresponding to the taper part 5b is improved.
