To provide a fence which is excellent in poisonous gas decomposability, mildew resistance and algae resistance, while suppressing a deterioration in a base material; and to provide a coating liquid for the fence.

The fence includes the base material, and a photocatalytic layer provided on the base material. Characteristically, the photocatalytic layer is obtained by drying the coating liquid for the fence after applying it; the coating liquid for the fence includes photocatalytic particles made of a metal oxide partially undergoing coating or modification treatment by a substance with a hydrophobic group, a silicone emulsion, and a water-soluble silver compound; and the oxidation ability of the photocatalytic particles is greater than the reduction ability of them.
