To increase joining strength and prolong the life of a sliding synthetic resin plate by fusing a layer of a specified thickness to the rear face of the sliding synthetic resin plate of a specified thickness, and joining a rubber layer to a rubber fender and a fender having a sliding synthetic resin plate.
In order to manufacture a fender 1, a sliding synthetic resin plate 4 and a rubber layer 3 are fused in advance, and the synthetic resin plate 4 having the rubber layer 3 and a rubber fender 2 are joined by vulcanization. The synthetic resin plate 4 is preferably a polyethylene plate of ultrahigh molecular weight and have a thickness of 10 to 100 mm, more preferably 30 to 50 mm. Use of a thicker plate helps make it longer-lasting. The rubber layer 2 is preferably thin, measuring 1 to 50 mm in thickness. A reduction in thickness allows the rubber layer 3 and the synthetic resin plate 4 to be fused by heating the interface between them. Therefore, joining strength can be increased and the life of the synthetic resin plate 4 can be prolonged.
