PURPOSE: To obtain a fender capable of effectively absorbing pressure between a ship and a warf even at the time when the pressure is large.

CONSTITUTION: Buffer members 7 having protrusions 7a and 7b respectively are installed, shape thereof is gradually concaved in the area from protrusion 7b, while protrusions 7a and 7b are slantedly attached respectively, and are connected to the both ends of the member 8 of the warf 1 thru brackets 10a and 10b provided at the protrusions 7a and 7b respectively, and to the both ends of the member 9 of the buffer plate 5 rockably. Protrusions 7a and 7b are provided on the buffer members 7 at the side against the warf 1 and at the side against the buffer plate 5 respectively. Between the warf 1 and the both edges of the buffer plate 5, chains 16 are extended in order to protect the buffer plate 5 at the time when the pressure made by the ship becomes abnormally large. Now, when the buffer plate 5 is pressed against the warf by external force, brackets 10a and 10b turn, making included angles α1 and α2 zero and the buffer member 7 is bent outward. Additional external force to be influenced becomes buckling compression at the center of the member 7 and the external force is absorbed thereinto.
